Exotic Streetwear

Lakwa was my first career step into fashion.  It started with in college with an interest in high end accessories.  Rather than continuing spending an absurd amount of money on luxury items I picked up my mom’s 30 year old at home sewing machine and got to work.  I began by deconstructing and reassembling everything from baseball hats to sweatshirts and my passion for creation only grew as my skill increased.  I began to sell items I was making and the Lakwa Brand was born.  After graduating with a psychology degree I moved to New Orleans where I began to focus on my craft full-time. 

With little to no connection to the fashion industry as a whole I scoured the internet for resources on how I could improve the products I was creating.  Using luxury brands like Just Don as inspiration I knew every detail of my products had to be on point.  I selected the finest materials to create one-of-a-kind pieces.  To improve the consumer experience, I also began custom manufacturing hardware and tags.    This was my first experience communicating with factories and was a great way for to learn about the development process.  I was able to grow a following and create sales using popular social media channels
